Monty's famous triumph

Egypt SECOND WORLD WAR 1939 - 1945

This Journey of Remembrance itinerary pays homage to those who died in Egypt’s desert sands during the bitter three year Second World War North African campaign.

Although thousands of Allied troops passed through Cairo, the city was only threatened briefly by the Nazis in 1942. Cairo, with the Pyramids and Sphinx, the Egyptian Museum, the Nile and its bustling lifestyle, is an extraordinary city. The historic port of Alexandria also had a vital role, but the heart of this tour is El Alamein where we salute the outstanding bravery of our troops and Montgomery’s victory over Rommel, which won the war in North Africa.
